Our Story
GUOSOW Strategic Development Initiative International was founded in 2012 in response
to the needs of the vulnerable and marginalised groups of girls, women and youth, who
invariably forms the society’s poorest and underprivileged.
Registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in Nigeria with registration number CAC/IT/54019, we are an NGO
devoted to the welfare of widows, people with disabilities, survivors of gender-based violence. We operate
with our Head Office in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State. Our operations cover the following areas to date:

Our primary stakeholders are the people and communities we help; while our secondary stakeholders are donors, partners, governments, organizations, team members and our board members, to whom we are accountable for Ethics and Respect, Transparency, Stewardship and Love.
Our Objectives
- To educate and enlighten girls, women, and youth on contemporary educational, health education, child labour ,economic, political and socio-cultural issues affecting them.
- To Protect and support mother-baby relationship by improving upon strategies to mitigate preventable infant and maternal mortality in Nigeria.
- To advocate for and train survivors of gender-based violence such as widows, girls and the disabled in vocational skills.
- To discourage the society from infringing on the rights and privileges of girls, women, and youth and under-privileged persons.
- To undertake humanitarian, hospitality and welfare services to positively impact on the lives of strangers, orphans, widows, youth, children, people living with disabilities and under-privileged persons.
- To address the dangerous customs and practices in Nigeria that usurp upon individual rights, subjecting girls, women and youth to situations of physical and emotional vulnerability.
- To liaise with governments, agencies and organisations, churches, institutions to project, as well as to enlighten and sensitise the public on the rights and privileges of the strangers, orphans, widows, youth, children, people living with disabilities and under-privileged persons.
- To educate the public especially youth, women on abstinence, premarital sex, prolife, sex abuse, rape and the prevention of HIV/ AIDS counselling
- To assist in poverty eradication, employment creation in Nigeria by improving the standard of living of strangers, orphans, widows, youth, children, people living with disabilities and under-privileged persons.
- To identify and encourage strangers, orphans, widows, youth, children, people living with disabilities, under-privileged persons through health education, HIV/AIDs counselling, rights at work, working conditions, and empowerment on income generating activities.
KEY ACHIEVEMENTS
To date, we have impacted our communities in the following ways:
- Our services have so far reached 600 people including Women, Youth, Children and people living with disabilities.
- Our beneficiaries are currently registered under three cooperatives of 120 people each.
- Our beneficiaries have formed 15 savings and lending groups of 15 people each for financial empowerment.
- We have developed an Oil Palm Value Chain so far with 355 members involved in 14 business units of the value chain and we need to scale it to 1000 members in the next 1 year, and 1 million in the next 5years for economic empowerment and value chain development.
- We have trained 21 trainers in Grassroots Entrepreneurship Skills Training and Business Development Services provision.
- We trained 400 youth, women and men on pro-life - premarital sex to prevent HIV/AIDS, abuse, rape, abortions, and STDs.
- We created ‘THE GENESIS LIFE INITIATIVE’, a youth group with a directive to sensitize communities on sex education, pro-life education, substance abuse and addictions, prevention of HIV/AIDS and other STDs, and moral behavioural changes.
- In partnership with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) in the Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria, we
have undertaken an education project to improve the quality of Science and Mathematics Education through Inclusive Neighbourhood
Spaces for Children (INSC). Our achievements on this project include:
- Successful training of 235 teachers on blending creativity in teaching.
- Impacting 400 students through the INSC in collaboration with community citizen service volunteers (CCSV), locals of the community.
